Dres and Mista Lawnge showed up as the youngest cats in the collective — the ones running with Tribe, De La, and Jungle Brothers — and their debut was exactly what the title said. Wolves in sheep’s clothing. All the Native Tongues jazz-loop DNA on the outside, then Dres flips it and starts calling out label politics, industry fakes, and everybody moving crooked around them. Mista Lawnge handled the boards. Q-Tip and the family drop by. The samples are ridiculous — the McDonald’s jingle, the Prince guitar stab, the whole “Engine, Engine Number 9” hook nobody saw coming.

Then “The Choice Is Yours (Revised)” happens. You can get with this, or you can get with that. The song outlives the album, outlives the label, outlives half the industry that ignored Black Sheep. Every commercial, every sitcom, every playlist — the choice keeps getting made, over and over, thirty-plus years deep.
