Premier chopped Ahmad Jamal`s I Love Music for Memory Lane. Then Q-Tip pulled Ahmad Jamal AGAIN for One Love. Two Jamal flips on one debut. Nobody else in 1994 was thinking about jazz-piano lineage like that.

Q-Tip`s One Love beat came through Serch — 3rd Bass A&R`d Nas at Columbia. That`s how the ATCQ credit landed on Illmatic.
