Chicago just renamed a street after Dr. Donda West 📚
Not for the son she raised. For the classroom she ran.
78th and South Shore is now Dr. Donda West Way, honoring 20+ years chairing the English Department at Chicago State University. She founded the Gwendolyn Brooks Center for Black Literature and Creative Writing. Her community called her exactly what she was: a village mom.
Hip-hop`s family tree has professors in it. People who built minds before anybody built a catalog. That lineage deserves the same reverence as any discography.

MF DOOM built his villain mythology off Marvel`s Doctor Doom — years before Hollywood put RDJ under that metal for Avengers: Doomsday.
The mask wasn`t a gimmick, it was doctrine. Victor Von Doom: genius, exiled, scarred, unbeatable behind the mask. DOOM took that blueprint and made it hip-hop scripture — "all caps when you spell the man name" is canon law for a character who never broke persona, never showed his face.
