Kid Cudi Lays Bare Depression and Addiction in Raw Memoir Arriving August 5

Simon & Schuster will release Cudi: The Memoir on August 5. This 320-page narrative, credited to Scott Mescudi, traces his journey from childhood to his 40th birthday and includes candid discussions about depression, addiction and self-worth.

Kid Cudi announced the memoir via Instagram and X. He drew attention to its unfiltered nature, labeling it raw and therapeutic. “My memoir is pretty heavy yall. I talk about some very real s###, bringing u into my mind during the most difficult times. But it will help those who struggle not feel so alone,” he shared with followers.

The book features artwork created by Cudi, a collection of childhood photos and a timeline of key career milestones. Its presentation mirrors the emotional refuge listeners have discovered in his music over the years.

Cudi further described his aims: “Life lessons, the rager period of my life and fighting my demons. All the way to the present, where happiness has found me. I hope this book does what my music does for u and gives u guidance and hope that u will make it through those difficult times.”

A global tour of bookstores will celebrate the launch. Its release coincides with his new single “Neverland” and a short film debuting at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.

The announcement arrives amid headlines tied to allegations in a federal racketeering case involving Diddy. Prosecutors claim Diddy exploded Cudi’s Porsche out of jealousy over his relationship with Cassie. Cassie confirmed that Diddy told her he intended to destroy the car and wanted Cudi’s friends to witness it.
