Snoop Dogg to Lead Los Angeles Outreach for 2026 FIFA World Cup
In a move that has sports fans buzzing, Snoop Dogg will serve as the Los Angeles Community Chairman for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission revealed the news on August 12, tapping the hip-hop icon to champion local engagement and legacy efforts as the city prepares to host eight matches.
As Community Chairman, Snoop Dogg will act as the face of the Host Committee’s outreach programs, working to build support and invite participation from every corner of Los Angeles. The city’s schedule includes the U.S. Men’s National Team opener at SoFi Stadium, with seven additional games bringing global attention to Southern California.
“This isn’t just any tournament, this is the biggest event on the planet, and it’s coming to our city,” Snoop Dogg said. “LA is ready to show up with that signature style, culture and love for the beautiful game. I’m here to make sure the whole world has a great experience in our city, and everyone in our community gets a chance to participate. Stay tuned.”
His responsibilities will cover a range of initiatives designed to leave a lasting mark: expanding youth soccer access, rolling out wellness activities, offering job-skills training and supporting neighborhood improvement projects. Organizers hope these programs will keep the excitement alive well after the final whistle blows.
This appointment adds to Snoop Dogg’s growing sports résumé. Earlier this summer, he joined the ownership group of Swansea City, a Welsh club competing in the English Football League Championship, alongside American investors Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen and Croatian star Luka Modrić.
He also made waves at the 2024 Paris Olympics as a special correspondent for NBC. Viewers tuned in for his on-the-ground commentary, lively hosting segments and spirited backing of Team USA, which turned him into a breakout favorite.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, with Los Angeles set to play a starring role among the major host cities.
