Description
Brooklyn didn’t ask permission in 1993. Black Moon kicked the door in.
October 19, 1993. Buckshot, 5ft and DJ Evil Dee drop Enta Da Stage and the New York underground gets its new blueprint. Da Beatminerz (Evil Dee and his big brother Mr. Walt) built it at D&D Studios: murky low end, dusty loops, drums that hit like a door slam in a Brooklyn stairwell. Buck was eighteen years old, on every track but “Son Get Wrec,” and running Duck Down Management on the side. “Who Got Da Props?” “How Many MC’s…” “I Got Cha Opin.” No filler, no radio bait.
This is the record where Tek and Steele first stepped up as Smif-N-Wessun on “Black Smif-N-Wessun,” where Havoc and Dru Ha jumped on “U Da Man,” and where the Boot Camp Clik got its foundation poured. Before Duck Down became an institution, before the mid-’90s New York renaissance, there was this. Our take flips the classic crew shot into a bold red-block design: Black Moon up top, enta da stage underneath, the crew front and center.
