🎤 Pharoahe Monch`s Internal Affairs gave us "Simon Says," built on Akira Ifukube`s Godzilla theme. Toho sued in 2001. Out of print until 2019.

Redman, Dare Iz a Darkside (1994). Reggie buried up to his neck is a nod to Funkadelic`s Maggot Brain (1971). He even named a track "Cosmic Slop."
Boogie Down Productions, By All Means Necessary (1988). KRS-One at the window restages the Malcolm X photo, and the title flips "by any means necessary."
Camp Lo, Uptown Saturday Night (1997). A homage to Ernie Barnes` The Sugar Shack, the painting from Marvin Gaye`s I Want You and the Good Times credits.
