Mikey “Eyedea” Larsen — the Rhymesayers battle-champion turned lyrical philosopher — paired with DJ Abilities to build a sound the Midwest underground had never heard: dense, unafraid to break its own rhythm, wrestling with mortality and consciousness on cuts like “Smile” and “Powdered Water Too.” The 2001 debut First Born and 2004’s E&A didn’t chase trends — they detonated the frame around what an indie rap album could be.

Eyedea passed in 2010, but the work outlives him. This tee is for the heads who still throw on “Big Shots” when the crew’s deep in a cypher, who caught the Blueprint battle tapes on tape-trade, who know Abilities’ cuts on “Now” go bar-for-bar with any DJ in the game. Rhymesayers built a whole label around the standard these two set.
