Angel Reese Scores Fashion Victory as First Professional Athlete on Victoria’s Secret Runway
Angel Reese will be the first professional athlete to step onto the Victoria’s Secret runway, bringing her WNBA stardom to high fashion. The Chicago Sky forward announced the development in a celebratory Instagram post, hinting at a defining moment for her career and for women’s sports.
“Stepping into a dream: From Angel to a Victoria Secret ANGEL. I’m finally getting my wings. I’ll be walking the Victoria’s Secret 2025 runway show for the first time, and it feels like destiny.”
The 23-year-old star will make her debut on October 15, joining a lineup that includes Missy Elliott, Madison Beer, KAROL G and TWICE. She’ll don the brand’s iconic feathered wings, a role usually reserved for top models. The wings have become the highlight of past shows, often drawing as much attention as the outfits themselves.
Victoria’s Secret posted its own welcome: “Angel Reese, welcome to the runway. The first professional athlete angel…major is an understatement.”
Her accomplishments on the court generated headlines immediately. Selection highlights crossover between sports and fashion. Reese’s profile extends far beyond the court after a standout rookie season with the Sky. She became the fastest player in WNBA history to hit both 500 points and 500 rebounds, posting 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game across 34 appearances. She earned WNBA All-Rookie Team honors and became the first Sky rookie to log double figures in her first five games. Seattle’s franchise named her its 2024 Player of the Year.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show began in 2001 and returned in 2023 after a four-year pause. Criticism and falling viewership led to its hiatus. Organizers have stressed a wider range of faces in the lineup. The new edition promises a fresh format and a more inclusive definition of beauty and influence.
Her entry into the show illustrates a new, inclusive vision. Reese’s appearance reflects that shift. Her social media reach and endorsement deals rank her among the most marketable athletes in women’s sports.
