Max B Launches Seven-Show East Coast Tour on Day He’s Freed After 20 Years

In an unexpected turn of events, Harlem rapper Max B, known offstage as Charly Wingate, will step out of prison on the very day he’s been granted his freedom after 20 years behind bars. He plans to immediately hit the stage for a seven-city club tour, ensuring no downtime between release and return to music.

Born Charly Wingate and known as “Biggaveli,” the artist will launch a seven-city club tour on November 9 across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, including stops at some of the city’s most talked-about venues. The run will wrap up December 13 with a final show in Trenton, New Jersey, ahead of the holiday season.

A countdown timer on his official website has been ticking off the days leading to his freedom, a moment long awaited by fans of the Dipset affiliate. His team confirmed the tour on social media October 10, describing the events as a celebration before year’s end.

Max B received a 75-year sentence in 2009 for felony murder and armed robbery tied to a 2006 shooting in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Following 20 years inside, he is expected to be released on November 9, according to a New Jersey State Parole Board letter he shared on Instagram. The post stated, “The Wave touches down November 9,” and labeled the homecoming “personal.”

His reentry into the hip-hop scene is likely to draw backing from longtime friends, including NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns and fellow Harlem native Jim Jones. The rapper and Jones formally ended their feud during a July episode of Drink Champs.

“Listen, Jim said a bunch of hard s### about me. So, we all say hard s### about each other, okay?” Max B said during the interview. “Jim done wished me dead, all type of s###. It’s all good. Listen, man. It’s love, man. I want to start over. I’m a new man. I’m a married man. I got four kids.”

He added, “Like, I’m on a whole different time right now, my n#### I’m out here to get my money and ride out the sunset with this s###. It’s in there for me, though. I’m going tell you that. So that’s the goal.”
