Dave Chappelle, Estelle and Kranium Spark Viral Reggae Jam in Jamaica
Dave Chappelle popped up on stage in Jamaica for a surprise take on “Bam Bam” with British singer Estelle and dancehall star Kranium at DJ Trauma’s fifth annual Trauma Unit Retreat, a performance that quickly went viral and turned a laid-back evening into a memorable feast of sound and humor.
The unexpected collaboration occurred during the retreat’s dancehall showcase when Chappelle jumped into the spotlight, singing and moving to the reggae classic alongside Estelle and Kranium. Fans cheered as he belted out lyrics in sync with the duo’s performance.
“Something special happened in Jamaica!!!!” DJ Trauma wrote on Instagram, sharing a clip of the set. “Sometimes you can’t plan for this type of magic to happen. We were blessed to have greatness at the retreat, having downtime, having fun!!!”
Held in Jamaica, the event brings together music, culture and relaxation. Chappelle, who has teamed up with DJ Trauma for several years, embraced the party atmosphere and took part in a dancehall soundclash.
The gathering has drawn music lovers and performers from around the world.
Fans across social media couldn’t get enough, calling the moment “only in Jamaica!” and applauding the blend of reggae rhythms, stand-up flair and celebrity presence.
Chappelle’s Jamaican appearance serves as a warmup for his fifth season of the “Summer Camp” comedy series in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The 2025 edition will run over three weekends in July and August, continuing the phone-free tradition born during the pandemic.
