Vic Mensa and Hip-Hop Stars Slam ICE Raids, Urge Black-Brown Solidarity

Vic Mensa pointed out that enforcement systems aimed at immigrants can just as readily be used against Black Americans.

“The same oppressor that exploits the African abuses the Latino,” he said. “And please believe if they could figure out how to deport n#####…they been trying since the Emancipation Proclamation.”

Mensa highlighted links among ICE detention centers, U.S. prison labor and systemic international human rights abuses.

“Don’t be fooled into believing this struggle is not ours,” he added.

Under his video, he wrote, “Why should black people care about ICE? Solidarity is strength,” and added, “Common enemy common goal.”

At the 2025 BET Awards, Doechii seized her moment to criticize Donald Trump, condemning the ICE crackdown and heightened military deployment in Los Angeles. She made the remarks as she accepted the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist honor on Monday (June 9).

In response, Kehlani reposted the clip to her Instagram Stories with the caption: “EXACTLY DOECHII EXACTLY.”

Tyler, The Creator posted his own message earlier this week, bluntly stating, “F### ICE.”

Protests erupted across Los Angeles after ICE raids and Huerta’s arrest, drawing renewed criticism from activists, artists and community leaders.
